As a bartender, what current bartending trend most excites you?
Matthew: “Embracing technology. I wouldn’t be half the bartender I am without being able to look up hundreds of thousands of recipes in the blink of an eye! I love that that is being utilized more. Virtual menus, QR codes, advertising etc. “Have you made X drink?” NOPE! But I’ll look it up and give it a go!”
What’s a flavor you’re most excited to work with this year?
Matthew: “I’m such a Blood Orange slut for sure. Weather it’s a twist on an old fashioned or a zesty Margarita, I can get behind it.”
What Liquid Alchemist flavor do you like working with the most?
Matthew: “Again, the Blood Orange for sure. Being from Wisconsin, we have very unique Old Fashioneds & that flavor works very well with what we do.”
What’s your favorite industry spot in your area?
Matthew: “I live all the places I work at evenly. They treat me so well so its hard not to pick one of those but, if they are all out, I would have to say Suds & Grub in Racine, Wi. Terrible dive with only plastic cups & loud bartenders!”
What three bars are must-go- to’s if you visit Milwaukee?
Matthew: “The Void, Olde Mke Pub, & Toad Hall. All three very different & unique in their own way.”
